8 Wonders of Kansas Customs

The Kansas Sampler Foundation recently announced that Leavenworth made it into TWO of the "8 Wonders of Kansas Customs"!!  corner_pharmacyOne of the winners is the Corner Pharmacy (there are 38 operating soda fountains left in Kansas) and the other one is the C.W. Carousel_w_kidsParker Carousel Museum (there are two Parker carousels in Kansas, one in Leavenworth & one in Abilene).

Abraham Lincoln Statue Unveiled!
lincoln_statueA statue of Abraham Lincoln was unveiled at 5th & Shawnee Sts. on the grounds of Leavenworth City Hall on 3 December 2009, marking the 150th anniversary of Lincoln's visit to Leavenworth.

The Kansas Sampler Festival will be in Leavenworth County for the next two years.  The festival will be held in Ray Miller Park, May 1 & 2, 2010 and May 7 & 8, 2011.
