Leadership is a process by which a person influences others to accomplish an objective and directs the organization in a way that makes it more cohesive and coherent. Leaders carry out this process by applying their leadership attributes, such as beliefs, values, ethics, character, knowledge, and skills.

Leavenworth County has a number of outstanding individuals who provide the crucially important leadership which gives LCDC a competitive edge. Those who lead in Leavenworth County come from all walks of life, but carry common virtues.

The same pioneer work ethic and logic that made Leavenworth (1854) the first incorporated community in Kansas and that has helped turn Fort Leavenworth into one of the most important and strategic army training facilities in the United States still exists today.

Each of us is born with certain traits that can be fostered into leadership capability, however in Leavenworth County those who attain to be leaders also understand that to accomplish such a role you much first develop the skill set. Leadership is earned by demonstrating the ability to follow. This is what has made LCDC and others like it so influential and important to the growth of the community.
